Project settings
ShyEditor allows you to configure project settings to fit your specific requirements and preferences. To change your
project settings, click the ⚙ icon in the bottom left corner of the project screen.
Project settings apply to the current project only. Some default settings will depend on the project type.
Preferences
Daily writing goal
The number of words you want to write each day in this project (minimum 50). Your progress towards the goal is tracked in the Stats tool.
Editor toolbar
Disabling this will hide the toolbar from the editor. You will still be able to format your text with keyboard shortcuts or Markdown.
AI Assistant
Disabling this will hide all AI features.
AI Advice
When this is turned on, ShyEditor advice will automatically suggest people, places, locations, etc. to add to the knowledge base from your text.
Grammar checker
Disabling this will turn off writing and grammar advice within the text and fall back to default browser spellchecking.
Automatic typography
When this is turned on, ShyEditor will automatically replace common text patterns with the correct typographic character.
For example, (c) will be converted to a copyright sign ©. Note - pressing Backspace will undo this conversion.
Label preview mode
Controls how sheet labels are displayed in the binder: as a colored border, a background highlight, a colored dot, or not at all.
Project structure
Project type
The project type of the current project. This is only displayed for reference and cannot be changed.
Multiple sheets
When this is turned off, only one sheet will exist in the project. Note - to avoid confusion or loss of data, you cannot disable this setting if multiple sheets already exist.
Project overview
When this is turned off, the project overview will not be displayed in the tools window.
Notes
When this is turned off, notes will not be displayed in the tools window.
Knowledge base
When this is turned off, the knowledge base will not be displayed in the tools window.
Bibliography
When this is turned on, you will be able to access the bibliography, in-text citations. If any sources are present, a reference list will be automatically added to exported files.
Project status
When this is turned off, the project status can no longer be changed.
Images
Control whether you can add images to the project. Note - existing images will not be removed if you turn this off.
Tasks
Control whether you can add tasks to the project text. Note - existing tasks will not be removed if you turn this off.
Code blocks
Control whether you can add code blocks to the project. Note - existing code blocks will not be removed if you turn this off.
