File library
The library lets you store and quickly access various files related to the project. Instead of having documents stored on your computer's desktop, or stashed away in various folders, you can store all the research you need in one place so you can access it quickly, without switching to another app.
The library accepts any file type — PDFs, Word documents, images, text files, and more — up to 20 MB per file. Your total storage depends on your plan: 100 MB on the free plan, and 5 GB with ShyEditor Pro.
The library tool displays all files that you've added to your current project, along with a small preview or file icon.
You can click on any file to open a preview windows, delete the file, or click the
icon to download the file.
If your project has the bibliography tool enabled, you can also click the
icon to open the corresponding source in the bibliography. When you upload a PDF, ShyEditor automatically looks for a
DOI in the document — if one is found, it offers to link the file to the corresponding bibliography source.
File preview
Click on any file to open the preview window. You can add any files you want to the library, but at the moment previews are only available for images, pdf, txt and md files.
The left part of the window shows the file contents and the file controls. You can rename the file, delete it, or search within the file. PDFs open in a full viewer with search, zoom, and page navigation. You can also scroll between project files using the arrows at the bottom of the window.
Document chat
The right side of the preview window is the file chat. Ask any question about the document, and the ShyEditor AI assistant reads it in full and answers with citations pointing to the exact pages, so you can check every claim yourself. The assistant sticks to what's actually in the document, and each file keeps its own chat history.
