Project outline

The project outline is a structured chapter plan for novel projects. It appears in the Knowledge Base panel alongside your entities and project details.

Chapters​

Each chapter in the outline has:

  • Title — the chapter name
  • Summary — a short description of what happens in the chapter
  • Beats — an ordered list of scene-level events within the chapter
  • Linked sheet — an optional link to a sheet in the project. You can link an existing sheet, or create a new one directly from the outline

Working with the outline​

  • Add, remove, and reorder chapters (drag-and-drop)
  • Edit titles, summaries, and beats inline
  • Sync with the linked sheet — the AI reads the sheet's text and updates the chapter's title, summary, and beats to match what you've actually written (the sheet needs to have some real content first)
  • Create a sheet from a chapter — generates a new sheet with the chapter title and links it automatically

Integration with other features​

The project outline becomes the chapter plan in the Story Engine, and the AI assistant reads it to understand your story — so keeping the outline up to date makes every AI feature smarter about your book.
